"...Mr. Spivakov played with a rich, centered tone and a focused, thoughtfully regulated vibrato. The Allegro and the closing variations were slightly leaner and more conventionally Mozartean, although Mr. Spivakov's singing tone, the breadth of his coloristic palette and his interaction with Mr. Bezrodny remained the reading's principal attractions." The New York Times
"...Spivakov spun out line after line of gorgeous tone, eloquent phrasing and the kind of accuracy in intonation heard all too seldom." The Seattle Times
About
A violinist of "soulful refinement and technical finesse", Vladimir Spivakov appears regularly as a recitalist and orchestra soloist in all of the major international music capitals. In addition to his solo career, he is the appointed Music Director of the newly-formed National Philharmonic of Russia, a Moscow-based orchestra supported by the Ministry of Culture. Mr. Spivakov has set up his own charitable foundation to support needy children from his homeland, and has been awarded Russia's highest prize, the National Cultural Heritage Award, and the coveted Les Insignes . . . de Chevalier de la Legion D'Honneur created by Napoleon Bonaparte in 1802.
In February 2012, Mr. Spivakov embarked on a special North American recital tour with pianist Olga Kern, their first collaboration outside of Europe.
