"In the one work on the program in which the orchestra's performance could be easily measured against the international standard - the Brahms Second Symphony - both the quality of the ensemble's sound and the level of energy it brought to its playing were extremely high" Allan Kozinn The New York Times
"The orchestra played throughout with impressive energy and precision." Chris Pasles Los Angeles Times
About
Since the opening of the internationally prominent Sala São Paulo, this state orchestra has undergone a highly successful reconstruction process. The orchestra interprets traditional symphonic repertoire and works by Brazilian composers, touring in South America and abroad. The Orquestra de São Paulo’s home is one of the most innovative architectural structures in the Americas, the Sala São Paulo. Its debut North American tour in fall 2002 took them coast-to-coast on an 18-city tour and was well received by critics and audiences alike. In November 2006, the orchestra returned . . . to the US for a 14-city concert tour of the East Coast with cellist Antonio Meneses, and in October 2009 it undertook its third U.S. tour with percussionist Dame Evelyn Glennie. This tour received great critical acclaim.
