“Whether Mozart or Stravinsky, their musical line always sounds as if it is being woven for the very first time...But the illusion of improvisation is the genius of their performances. In all their recordings there is a deceptive sprezzatura that is born of throwing the preparation to the winds and hanging onto each others ears.” The Times
"Rarely has the weft and warp of the score been so realized, its question- and-answer dialogue with such perfect (and natural) even-handedness." Gramophone
"…the Labèques, fabulously dressed, were fabulous soloists, reading each other’s minds as they became a single super pianist." L.A. Times
About
The dazzling and fiery duo pianists Katia and Marielle Labèque are known for their seamless ensemble, superlative musicianship and extraordinary scope of repertoire, ranging from Bach to 20th century avant-garde composers. Their vast discography includes orchestral and recital performances, as well as contemporary jazz pieces. KML Recordings brings together the unexpected in meaningful and artistic ways, constantly associating sounds and images. To date each of KML's . . . releases has earned top praise from major critics across the world. In 2005 Katia and Marielle Labèque launched the KML Foundation, aimed at furthering research and developing awareness of duo piano repertoire through meetings between artists of all fields, be they musicians, film-makers or writers.
