About
Since its foundation over a hundred years ago, the Beethoven Orchestra Bonn has become a key pillar of cultural life in Bonn and the surrounding region. Its concerts, operas, music tuition for adults and children, CD recordings, domestic and international tours and its wide-ranging commitment to social causes have become fixtures in the cultural spectrum. The orchestra has evolved into one of the very best orchestras of its kind in Germany. The Beethoven Orchestra Bonn also boasts two highly sought-after ECHO Klassik music awards for its educational program, Bobby’s . . . Klassik, and its recording of Franz Liszt’s Christus.
The Beethoven Orchestra Bonn is also the official orchestra of the Oper Bonn (Bonn Opera House). In total, the Beethoven Orchestra Bonn plays 115 concerts and performances in the opera house every year, including premieres, recordings and special concerts, such as the theatre festival, New Year’s concert, anniversary concert and the contemporary musical theatre of ‘Bonn Chance’.
Under General Music Director Stefan Blunier, the Beethoven Orchestra Bonn has the pleasure of regularly working with internationally renowned soloists, conductors and choirs. The orchestra has completed several successful tour dates and guest performances in some of the world’s greatest concert halls, from Carnegie Hall in New York to Suntory Hall in Tokyo, and will soon be appearing once again at Salzburg’s Grosses Festspielhaus.
