José Serebrier conducts Samuel Adler
has been nominated for the 17th Annual Latin Grammy Award “Best Classical Album”, which will take place on Thursday, November 17th. The album features Maximilian Hornung, cello and the Royal Scottish National Orchestra. This is Serebrier’s sixth Latin Grammy nomination.
“Well, I'm sold, and have become an immediate admirer of Samuel Adler's music…Hats-off to Linn, the RSNO, Maximilian Hornung and José Serebrier for their collective enterprise, for exploring and sharing [Adler’s Symphony No. 6, Concerto for Cello and Orchestra, and Drifting On Winds and Current/these scores] with such conviction. The recorded sound is the equal of the dedicated performances that are so persuasive. A follow-up volume would be very welcome.”
“Serebrierand the orchestra approach all three works like people on a mission, convinced that they’re dealing with some tremendously important music. After the second or third hearing, you become convinced how absolutely right they are.”
